How to Fuel Your Body

 Food is our bodies fuel and it is important to know what will fuel your body the best. There are 5 main food groups and they each have their own benefits: Fruits, Vegetables, Dairy, Protein, and Grains. Carbohydrates are what gives your body the most fuel, which is what your body uses to properly function throughout the day. Carbohydrates are commonly found in foods such as bread, pasta, rice, fruits, and vegetables. Many people think of carbs as being bad, but your body needs carbohydrates to run properly, what people should think of is the proper amount of carbs is good, but eating a carb overload everyday is what would be considered bad. Protein is another major part of people's diets. Proteins are what help your body to grow and repair muscles that may have weakened. This is why it is common to see people who are in the gym a lot and trying to gain muscle eat a lot of protein. Fruits and vegetables are both things that you should be incorporating in just about every meal, you do not need to eat only these foods but it is important to try to work them into all of your meals. Your meals do not need to be extravagant as long as they are nutritious and fueling your body to do what is most important for you and your life!

  1. Food truly is fuel. Learning how to fuel your body properly is probably something I have been focusing on the most over this semester. I've been working on meal prepping every single weekend for the week ahead and it has really helped me reach my daily goals for each food group.
