Walking 10,000 steps a day is a goal that any person can strive for and typically easy for people to reach, but even smaller goals like 8,000 steps are beneficial to peoples lives. This doesn't mean that you need to change your entire lifestyle or set aside hours of time to go for walks it is just changes easy changes that allow you to move more. Things like walking to your favorite coffee shop instead of driving, or on your break at work taking a walk instead of spending time on your screen. Changes like this are easy ways to help you get your body moving and implementing daily walking into your everyday life. There are also numerous benefits when it comes to walking daily such as weight management, and cardiovascular health. Getting your body moving in any way allows you to "work out" your heart and it helps to keep your heart functioning properly. Other than physical benefits, walking is shown to improve mental health and give people an outlet to de-stress as needed. Walking is an easy way to take care of yourself both physically and mentally, and more people should take advantage of that.
Hi Amanda!! I really liked the topic you chose to talk about. This was a great topic as we are all college students, so we are constantly walking around campus to get to classes and events. I think it is super important because walking is so simple, but as you pointed out has so many benefits. I find walking to be an outlet to relax when feeling overwhelmed and stressed. I love to track my steps daily and accomplish my goal because it makes me feel more motivated. I think more people need to realize how beneficial walking is for both mental and physical health.
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda!!!!! I loved reading this blog and I totally agree with you. I love to go for daily walks.Getting your steps in is super important, not only for your health, but also for your overall wellness! I feel that when I go for a walk, I come home feeling very accomplished and overall happier. I also think everyone should have some sort of watch to track their steps, such as an apple watch or a fitbit. Before I go to sleep, i like to look and see how many steps I got. I use this to determine whether I hit my goal or not, and what I can change to improve my step count!
ReplyDeleteYou explained the benefits of walking perfectly! It really is such an easy and effective way to stay healthy. I like how you mentioned that even small changes, like walking instead of driving, can make a big difference. Great blog!
